Overcoming stroke challenges isn’t easy. On December 9, 2022, my life changed forever when I suffered a brain aneurysm and massive stroke. This is my journey of hope and healing.
A ruptured brain aneurysm and a severe brain bleed sent me into a three-month coma, during which doctors worked tirelessly to save my life. To manage the pressure caused by the bleed, I underwent surgery to place a brain shunt, a device that now helps regulate the flow of fluids in my brain.
When I awoke from the coma, I was met with the devastating news that the trauma had triggered a massive stroke. The stroke left the entire left side of my body paralyzed and permanently disabled. Simple actions I once took for granted, like walking, dressing, and even holding a spoon, were no longer possible without assistance. Despite the immense physical and emotional challenges, I knew that God had spared me for a purpose.
My recovery began with intense rehabilitation. It was grueling and often discouraging, as I struggled to regain even the smallest movements and relearn basic tasks. Physical therapy sessions focused on strengthening my body, while occupational therapy helped me adapt to a new way of living with one functional side. Every step forward, no matter how small, was a victory—a sign of God’s faithfulness and the strength He had instilled in me.
As I navigated the challenges of recovery, I leaned heavily on my faith. I found comfort in prayer, scripture, and the support of loved ones who reminded me that God’s plan for my life was far from over. Slowly, I began to see my circumstances not as a limitation, but as an opportunity to glorify God through my journey.
Out of this difficult season, From Stroke to Hope was born. I realized that my experience could serve as a guiding light for others who were just beginning their stroke recovery journey. Through this ministry, I aim to provide stroke survivors with the resources, encouragement, and spiritual guidance they need to see and taste the goodness of God in their lives, even amid profound challenges.
The name From Stroke to Hope reflects my belief that, even in our darkest moments, God’s love and grace shine through. Stroke recovery is not just a physical journey; it’s a spiritual one. It’s about learning to trust in God’s plan, finding joy in small victories, and realizing that our trials can be transformed into a powerful testimony.
Through this ministry, I strive to:
